What 2000's level courses should I take first?

All of the following courses are good "starter" courses. All are open to sophomores, and have no prerequisites other than Biology 1107 and/or 1108 except as stated.

 

Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

  • EEB 2244. General Ecology. (4 credits). First semester.
  • EEB 2244W. General Ecology (4 credits). First semester.
  • EEB 2245. Evolutionary Biology (3 credits). Second semester.
  • EEB 2245W. Evolutionary Biology (4 credits). Second semester.

Molecular and Cell Biology

  • MCB 2410. Human Genetics. (3 credits). First semester.
  • MCB 2210. Cell Biology (3 credits). First semester.
  • MCB 2413. Concepts of Genetic Analysis (4 credits). Second semester.
  • MCB 2610. Fundamentals of Microbiology (4 credits). Either semester.
    NOTE: this course requires one semester of organic chemistry as a co-requisite.

Physiology and Neurobiology

  • PNB 2250. Animal Physiology. (3 credits). First semester.
  • PNB 2274-2275. Enhanced Human Physiology and Anatomy (4 credits each semester) Either semester.
    NOTE: prerequisites include CHEM 1127 as well as BIOL 1107, and recommended preparation of one semester of physics. Be sure NOT to take PNB 2264-2265 -- these courses do not count for credit towards the Biological Sciences or PNB major.

Biology

  • Biology 2289. Introduction to Undergraduate Research. (1 credit). Both semesters.
